Historical context I chose and proposed the name Personal Finance & Money in my original Area 51 definition for this site for one simple reason: the name we had under the Stack Exchange "1.0" model, prior to the "2.0" changes, was Basically Money. Keeping "Money" was a tip of the hat, continuity, w.r.t. the site's original ...

I don't think it matters. Every StackExchange site I've ever participated on has had this exact problem: But XYZ should be on topic here! The "& Money" just adds local flavor to the problem. It's also been my experience that most people who come, post one or two off topic questions and leave were never really interested in the site, but rather ...

I will take a stab at outright dissent. Leaving Strictly "Personal Finance" give no room to move into small proprietorships or small business. The community has been against that move for a long time, but as other SE sites close, we are getting more and more "well, where then" questions. We can invite not only those questions but the people who answer ...

I'm open to the change but not for this reason. New members often push back on what's on topic, and after a bit of debate, are never seen again. Perhaps what's needed is an invitation to a new user to read through what's on and off topic and read through the top dozen questions. Once they understand the scope of the board and the fact that it's not a ...

We can conduct a celebration drive to clean up the house. Focus on Unanswered questions. We have 154 with no answers, we can take a look; - Some should be easy to answer given that I see similar question answered by experts here. Maybe they got missed when there were first posted and we haven't had the time to look back. - Some can be closed I think We ...

How about a Contest! There could be a variety of criteria (questions asked, answered, up-voted, shared, reviewed, etc.) to reach specified levels to enter prize draws. I'm thinking of something similar to contests held at other Stack Exchange sites like the contest at Ask Different, and at Super User, and at Arqade. Won me a useful prize in one of those ...

I'm deferring this for now. Initial concerns when the proposal was still incubating revolved around "Personal Finance" and "Money" not being mutually exclusive in any context, and therefore redundant. We've grown to realize that there's a bit more wiggle room within interpretation than we believed, which is how we've arrived to this discussion. Given ...

I have pushed a fix for this to our dev server. The change will go out after our next production build.

I had pointed this out 7 months ago when we were asked for feedback on the design. Refer to my earlier answer, which had 13 up-votes. Quote: 3. I suggest making the "Ask Question" link more prominent. I see the underline on close inspection, but even so, the link doesn't stand out as much as it ought to, perhaps owing to the all-caps used for all the ...

Edit 7/18/2015: I think this is now complete with the changes announced here. It looks much better to me! Edit 3/3/2015: I've asked about this issue on meta.SE. This still hasn't been addressed, even though I've asked a duplicate question about it. And it's not just in the comments, but in the questions and answers that visited links are very difficult to ...

How about a Festive Community Chat! We can meet in chat, discuss the history of the site, and share clips of our favorite "financial advisers" being ridiculous.

I might consider condensing the layout for the question page as shown below. Seems like wasted space. I also think the left tabs and sort tabs would be best as tiles instead of bordered but this is all just an opinion. Current Beta Layout Proposed Layout
