Done. I didn't know accounting site was killed. The link is now gone. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

I agree, Ben. There's Google, and there's also Open Office, and others, I'd imagine. No need for this tag to remain a brand, better to offer the generic word for the product. Done. The new spreadsheet tag has replaced microsoft-excel. The microsoft-excel synonym needs to be voted on - https://money.stackexchange.com/tags/spreadsheet/synonyms

I propose a more complex operation. The issue is that the tags lease and leasing have zero guidance becasue they are both trying to deal with vehicle-leasing and real-estate-leasing. Those are two topics that shouldn't be combined. One involves issue such as maximum mileage, residual value, trade ins. The other has landlord-tenant issues, and security ...

To provide a focus for up/down-votes on my proposed action: I don't think the question is a good fit and I'd like to edit the help centre. (EDIT: and I also can't think of a good question that the help centre item would enable.)

Merged! Still need to create the Wiki. (anyone?)

I think this is on-topic, but I don't want to override three other established users of the site by immediately voting to re-open (which would take immediate effect as I'm a moderator). [Update - it received 4 other reopen votes so I've cast one too and it's now reopened] Our "off-topic" list says: Questions about economics that are academic or have no ...

I don't think this tag is useful as it's too vague and won't be useful for anyone looking for similar questions. It should be deleted. Update: I've now removed it from all existing questions. That doesn't stop someone using it again, but they'll need enough reputation to create a tag.

I wouldn't use "product" as discount coupons are as likely to be store as manufacturer. discount-coupon covers both effectively. See Wikipedia's definition: a document exchanged in a retail context to provide a discount on goods or services bond-coupon is fine. I would, however, at least consider the option of leaving coupons covering discount ...

I think we should merge them. Seems pretty clear-cut. As it's hard to reverse afterwards I'll leave it a couple of days before doing that. EDIT: now done.

5

Agreed. In principle offshore has slightly more specialised connotations than international but I don't think it's worth it to try to draw the distinction in practice. [edit: tags now merged and synonyms added]

5

I'm inclined to just delete the tag from the one remaining question, it doesn't really add much to it and wouldn't even if replaced with net-worth. Perhaps we should first import the tag wiki into net-worth as that doesn't have one. EDIT: I've deleted the wealth from its one question and copied its tag wiki to net-worth. I think wealth will be naturally ...

5

I agree they are the same and should be merged. For what it's worth, I'd vote for "share-repurchase" since "buyback" is more colloquial (e.g. "buyback" in wikipedia links to "share repurchase").

5

Seems like an obvious one, even if it was created by the site's founder :-), so I've just removed it.

security and securities are not the same thing. They might appear to be the same thing.... security A security (also known as a financial instrument) is a tradable asset of any kind. For questions related to a specific asset class, use a specific tag, e.g. "stock" or "bond". and The securities tag has no usage guidance, can you help us ...

4

I've added it to your question.

I think the tags should be combined. One tag for this subject is enough. My personal preference is that the debt-collection tag be kept. debt-collectors should be made a tag synonym.

I have pushed a fix for this to our dev server. The change will go out after our next production build.

After some help from StackExchange staff, it looks like you hit some variant of this bug: Receiving incorrect WebSocket message "this post is locked - no more edits are allowed" when editing a post on which comments are disabled The post was deliberately: Comment locked - as the question had got lots of comments that were basically answers or ...

I appear to have the power to edit this unilaterally and have just done so: Anything not directly related to Personal Finance and Money Questions that are primarily opinion-based Questions with too many possible answers or that would require an extremely long answer Product or service recommendations or comparisons I copied the text from StackOverflow's ...

Sounds good to me, I'd propose hedging should win as it has more posts (101 v 20) and seems more natural. If anyone prefers hedge post a competing answer and we can see how the votes go. If there's no disagreement I'll do something in a few days (at least if someone reminds me!) [EDIT: now done]

To put the alternate case to Nathan's answer, I propose we keep billing. My reasons because it's more used than bills, which suggests that it's what our users find more natural on average. EDIT: I've now done this. In doing so I noticed a few questions where the topic was really "paper money". I've removed the tag from those and replaced it with cash. It's ...

income-taxes has 19 questions vs 1649 for income-tax. I don't see the need for the former. I'll agree with Ganesh, it's good practice to give these things a few days for member input. Although, Meta doesn't get as much activity as we'd like. Update - Done.

3

I agree, they should be merged. I personally prefer form-w-2. Form W-2 officially has a hyphen in the middle. Most of the other form tags have "form" in the tag name, and it is nice to be able to type "form" in the tag searchbox and see all the form tags appear.

The one hsa tag works, in my opinion, although unlike the US-specific Roth IRA or 401(k), it would require a country tag if the question didn't provide context.

2

We don't run evaluations on graduated sites, and it looks like you guys happened to graduated while an evaluation was running... which threw a wrench into the checks the queue runs to determine if it should close down. I added a developer-only route to force-close evaluations if necessary, so this is all cleaned up now. Thanks for the report!

2

As this seems to have support and no opposition, I've merged the two tags and made flexible-spending-account a synonym for fsa. I did it that way round to be consistent with hsa, but I don't feel strongly and will could reverse it if there's a consensus for that.

This is so obvious there's no need for discussion, @JoeTaxpayer has done it already.

Given that this just came to our attention, I don't think there have been many of this type of question on this stack. Leading to 2 outcomes - Leave it as is. It hasn't presented itself as a problem, except the one question linked was not off topic. Remove from the on topic list. Members were quick enough to close it down, and would prefer the topic be ...

Member has posted about an odd tag issue and a proposed solution. I've added the tag "featured" to get some attention. If there are no objections (within 5 days), I'll proceed with this, and implement the advice.
